Basingstoke based Gordian Strapping, one of the UK’s leading end-of-line specialists in pack and pallet securement, has supplied a new vertical strapping machine to Monier Redland Ltd. at their Shawell Plant in Leicestershire.
Monier, the leading worldwide supplier of pitched roofing products, has over 150 production sites in 42 countries and a heritage stretching back over 90 years. Redland is a brand of the Monier Group, and produces solutions for most roofing specifications including concrete roof tiles, slate roofing products, clay tiles, renewable energy systems, metal roof sheets and accessories.
Monier Redland Shawell required a new strapping machine in order to replace existing, ageing equipment on their concrete roof tile packaging line. Monier was looking for a solution that could be integrated into their packaging line without wholesale changes to their existing equipment.
Gordian Strapping supplied an OMS 043 vertical strapping machine with a TR14 HD Strapping Head. The 043 machine was easily adapted to fit onto the existing translation frame and interfaces with a Grab and Shuttle Side Shift system which was recently overhauled and upgraded.
The OMS TR14 HD Head is designed for use with Polyester Strapping, and is proven in the toughest working environments within the construction industry. The Heat Seal technology in the Strapping Head reduces the number of services required from every 80,000 cycles to every 200,000 cycles, and is compatible with a variety of different strap grades. With the new OMS strapping system greater and more even tension can be applied as a result of the movement available on the strapping head.
Paul Griffiths, Site & Production Engineer at Shawell Plant commented:
“We are delighted with the made to measure solution provided by Gordian Strapping and with the attentiveness of their service engineering team”.
