The Client
PinguinLutosa, a leader in the UK’s frozen vegetables market, needed to upgrade a key section of the automated packaging line at its King’s Lynn processing centre.
With one of the most advanced packaging facilities in Europe, PinguinLutosa wanted to be certain the new solution would integrate seamlessly with existing machines to deliver a vast range of flexible packing solutions.
The Challenge
As part of the upgrading and automation, PinguinLutosa needed a direct replacement for an old rotating arm stretch wrapper that would integrate into an existing conveyor system.
The new solution had to:
Timing was crucial. Removal of the old existing equipment and the installation and commissioning of the new system needed to be completed over a weekend to ensure minimum interruption to production. This was paramount when dealing with the processing and freezing of fresh vegetable produce.
The Solution
Stretch wrapper experts Gordian installed a Sirio automated ring wrapper because of its high production capacities, flexibility of use, extreme robustness and ultra-reliability.
Also, the Sirio ring wrapper’s fully programmable equipment parameters allow for optimum performance settings for current and future pack and production requirements.
The combined merits of the Sirio product and Gordian Strapping’s ability to specify, supply and install the equipment to a tight timescale convinced key personnel from PinguinLutosa. Aftercare engineering support was also a major factor in their decision process.
What The Client Said
PinguinLutosa Operations Director Peter Ohms said: “This end of line solution from Gordian Strapping has been crucial for us to maintain high speed and high volume food processing which meets our quality strategy and ultimately the needs of our customers.”
