FAQs

What is an automatic strapping machine?

Automatic strapping machines have strap tracks, otherwise known as arches, where the products to be strapped are manually placed. A strapping cycle is initiated by either a push button, foot switch, or switch located at the top of the machine work surface. Strapping machines operate at speeds of up to 70 straps per minute.

What is an automated strapping machine?

Automated strapping machines often resemble automatic strapping machines in terms of appearance. One of the main differences is that they are used in varying ways. Automated strapping machines are positioned in conveyor lines so a faster rate is achieved, as opposed to a manually fed automatic strapping machine. These strapping machines also have more advanced programmable control systems, so when used in conjunction with a conveyor system, they can detect the location of packs, the needed strap positions on the pack, and the number of straps that need to be placed automatically. They can also include rotating, compressing, straightening, and closing devices for cartons.

What is a semi-automatic strapping machine?

The most popular kind of strapping machine is a semi-automatic. These are automatic strapping machines without an arch or strap track. Instead, they have a flat working surface, which is often stainless steel, with a groove running down the middle from left to right. To apply a strap, place the carton onto the machine's top and over the groove. The leading end of the strap is then lifted, taken over the carton, and inserted into the machine's slot where it is automatically grabbed, tensioned to a predetermined value, made into a heat-sealed joint, and cut.

How do strapping machines work?

The operation of automatic and semi-automatic follows the same principle. They have a level surface on which to operate, and the strapping is usually supplied into the machine from the bottom or side. You must put the object in the precise location specified by the machine before you can start strapping. The strapping will thereafter be completed automatically at the push of a button. However, for semi-automatic machines, you must feed the strap into the other side, where it is put back into the machine, and over the top of the item.

Which strapping machine is right for me?

The most efficient strapping machine for your company will depend on how frequently you'll use it. The output rates and convenience of use that automatic strapping offers just can't be matched for busy operations with objects that need to be strapped on a frequent basis. A semi-automatic strapping solution nevertheless delivers great efficiency for less demanding processes, and depending on usage, it can even be more economical.
